I have been having issues with my neighbors overstepping their boundaries at our apartment complex, the last one where they were on my front steps. After that incident I immediately began looking at cameras both as a deterrent and for evidence if they were to do something like that again. I know many people with the ring doorbell, so I thought that would be a good optionThe doorbell was easy to install and setup, it has a bracket with 4 screws that the doorbell itself clips to and has 2 security screws to prevent theft. Before putting it in place it has to be charged, as long as you’re using battery. It took about 2 1/2 hours to charge from a quarter battery out of the box. It includes a charging cable and all mounting hardware out of the box. After running it for a week on default power settings I am down to 89% battery, so it’ll last a while, but it’ll have to be taken down for a few hours occasionally to be charged. My one wish was that the battery was removable so I could have 2 packs I could swap out, but it isn’t the end of the world.Video quality is pretty good on it, day time viewing is great. Night vision is a little dark to see, but it is on me due to where I had to mount it. I mounted it directly on the door, the only problem with that is it picks up the white trimming around the door more than anything in the dark. My solution was to put a small motion activated light under it, it allows me to see the footage alright if someone happens in the dark. Under better mounting circumstances it works well at nightThe ring app has a very nice interface, it is very user friendly and you can easily save clips if needed. The app will notify you of motion or people at the door, so you can see quickly what’s going on. It will also allow you to change settings on the camera to save power and such. In terms of connection issues, I haven’t had any that other users have reported. However the WiFi access point it’s connected to is only a few feet away through the wall so I really can’t speak about installations further away. It is worth noting that it only supports 2.4Ghz WiFi, I would check what your network supports first. There is a subscription, Ring Protect, for this and other ring cameras. It’s 3.99 for 1 camera, $10 a month for all cameras, or $20 for a “pro plan” with 24/7 monitoring. For 1 doorbell camera I am using the $3.99 one, however if I ever need more cameras I would definitely use the $10 one.It is also compatible with Alexa, I am able to use my echo speaker as a ringer for when someone pushes the bellOverall I am very happy with this doorbell camera I would definitely recommend it. I know a lot of people wouldn’t like the subscription part, but it makes sense since they’re storing your cameras footage. It’s less of a worry than a thief taking an sd card out of similar. Even just have the camera there has already acted as a deterrent, those neighbors have walked by but haven’t done anything near my porch since. The only people that have been up there are people that should be like the mail and such. With this I feel way more secure!

We have been waiting to purchase a ring doorbell camera. The video quality is amazing, it performs exactly as we need to, the instructions for installation were step-by-step. The speed of delivery was amazing! It came in two days the notifications from the Camera or a little bit annoying but we have to adjust that. Definitely recommend one of these to anyone.

I feel much safer in my own home with the Ring. There are recent suspension things going around my neighborhood and weird things happening around. Started to get a little paranoid, and I got myself a Ring. Now I feel much more at ease. Very good camera quality and is easy to set up and install right on my front door. Give good notification on my phone and my Amazon Echo announce it too. The only thing I wish is that it comes with the spear batteries instead of buying one yourself.

I’ve owned my Ring doorbell for just over 2 years and now the camera doesn’t work. Up until the 10th of October of this year, it worked very well. Minor issue’s with connecting to camera, remote access to my phone. Now, everything works on it except the camera, won’t connect, won’t take pictures. I go through app and it says everything is great with it. The odd part of this issue, in my health check page of the app, sometimes it says the battery level is %100 one moment then %79 the next. A few minutes later it could say %72 or %89. I thought it could be the battery. I removed the doorbell, bright it in and charge it. (the doorbell is hard wired to my doorbell wires) Only thing that did is kept it at %100 for a while. I hit the reset, it worked for a short period of time, I notice it had issues of starting off black and white before going to color. Put it back outside and camera stopped working. I did a factory reset, reconnect it to my wireless and even power cycle my modem (I work for my ISP). No change. Only thing I can think of is the doorbell does face south, south west, in the summer during the peak of the day it get’s hit with direct sun light. I think it should’ve serviced longer than 2 years. Now I’m a little gun shy on buying another one.

Very good camera – easy to set up and install. The app gives you all the steps you need from unpacking to installing which I found very helpful. Battery looks good so far. Camera quality is great. Motion detecter is perfect. My only thing is that I didn’t get the little orange levels that they come with. I thought it was included but I didn’t see them in my package. I think they’re important because without them I’m unable to see if there’s a package right in-front of my door nor I’m able to see my dog – I can only see his tail because he’s a big boy. I called to see if I can get them without returning the package but not sure they can do that?

    Great product
I installed this in place of my existing wired doorbell. It was very easy – I charged up the unit and set up the app and Alexa connection while indoors. All I had to do then was unscrew my old doorbell and disconnect the two wires, drill new holes in the wall to fit the Ring mounting bracket, connect up the two wires, and it was all good. So easy, even this old retired lady did it in a short time. The motion detection is accurate, too – it readily identifies that a person is in view, but not the dog.

The quality of video is great for the price point. Gives us peace of mind for activity at the door.

    Easy setup – great connectivity
I was shocked to see user reviews for this device (outside of Amazon) complaining about connectivity issues and lag with notifications displaying. It was almost enough to put me off buying one. Instead, I’m glad that I based my decision off Amazon reviews which are far more positive.I received the device today and since connecting it, have made the assumption that those complaining must have extremely budget routers. My experience during the 30 minutes I was mucking around with it is that the my app notification upon motion / doorbell ringing is almost instant!I didn’t purchase a separate chime, and instead, wiped the dust off the brand new Echo device that was gifted to me some time ago through an Amazon promotion, and it works perfectly!Whilst I appreciate why the device won’t communicate with a Google home speaker, it would’ve been the preferred chime option due to the google ecosystem I have set up in my home.Outside of this, I cannot fault the device based on cost. The yearly subscription fee is also quite reasonable.

I had the original Ring Doorbell for about a year and really enjoyed it. It was cheap but lower quality video resolution. It was fine for the time I had it. When the same thing with improved video was being released, I jumped on it. I received it today and got it installed. The video quality is night and day as shown in the photos and much better than the 1st generation. Good work ring. Unfortunately, the installation and mounting sucks compared to the 1st generation. Why they did this, I have no clue but here are the issues.1. The mounting plate on the first generation has connections for the wiring. This made it very easy to remove the device and charge, especially in the winter months where we live and the batteries lose charge. 2nd generation has a mounting plate and the wiring on the back of the unit, which was a pain especially when the existing wire is not very long. This will be a nightmare having to remove this and recharge compared to the 1st generation. I had no issues with the 1st generation. This is a failure for Ring in my opinion. I am debating about keeping my 1st generation instead of this now.2. The mounting of the device to the frame also sucks. The 1st literally had no gaps and was secure in my opinion. It had guides that made the doorbell align to the mount. The 2nd generation does not and there are gaps all the way around and loose. I mounted it no differently than before, in fact the holes for 1st and 2nd generation are identical which is a plus, but again I see this mounting as a failure for Ring.I literally just installed this, and outside of the perfect video, I can’t attest to motion and nightvision yet. I am disappointed in the execution of mounting the device. I have no idea why this changed this from the 1st generation but this was a bad move in my opinion. I still have no idea why these require a battery they never stay charged when connected to wiring, but I assume this unit will have the same issue for me as well come winter. They really need to rethink the whole battery idea and have a hardwired version and battery version or fix the way these thing function when power is applied. At this point I may deal with it and hope Ring fixes these mounting and wiring flaws. If this mounted the same way as the 1st generation, I would not be writing a review because I had no issues with the device other than the battery and that wasn’t enough for me to write a review. Excellent otherwise but seriously why did you change the way these mount?***Update 6/6/2020***So I decided to keep it primarily because I had already offered to sell my 1st generation to a neighbor, but I did end up having to make some changes. Ultimately I bought some spade terminals and soldered them to my doorbell wire with heat shrink tubing (Ring provided in older versions, but not this one for some reason). While it was easy for me, it won’t be for others. Overall I am still upset over this mounting as it is extremely poor execution when the previous version was perfect. I guess this is Rings way to get the price down to $99 by cutting corners. The doorbell it self seems quality but mounting just plain sucks. I have no other words for it. You can see my updated photos of what I did. There are two photos that show the camera quality difference. The low quality image is from a generation 1 ring and the better quality HD is from the generation 2 ring. Night vision appears to be decent and motion the jury is still out because of the People only filter. I am still trying to tweak it. I am still leaving only 3 stars because of the mounting issues and there is still a gap between the mounting plate and the doorbell. Maybe Ring will fix and send everyone a new mount, but that is wishful thinking.

This is a great camera, the quality is very good, the audio is good, and it was very easy to set up. I will say this though, IT TAKES FOREVER TO CHARGE!!! From the camera to charge from 58% to 96% took an hour and a half for me, I used the charger that came in the package. I am considering buying the fast charger for this camera because I would really like to not have my camera down for hours just for it to charge. The battery life itself lasts for a very long time (IMO) like a week to even possibly a week and a half long. Also, if you want to be able to go back and review camera footage from an hour ago, hours ago or even days ago you do have to buy the ring plan through the app to do so. As a woman living alone in her early 20’s this was an absolute necessity and I am so glad I bought this, it makes me feel so much safer just knowing that I can see what is going on outside my front door without having to get close to my door. Regardless if you are a woman or a man, living alone or not, this is a NEEEEEED for you, it feels so good to have some kind of security and protection without having to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on a camera system. Did I mention that in the Ring plan you can also set your camera to armed, disarmed and away and it has emergency medical services on it so you can contact the authorities through Ring? Very cool! 10/10 would recommend.

Missing the 2 screws that secure the device after it’s mounted so it can’t be removed!
I’ve only just set it up and all seems great so far, the interface is user friendly. How ever, these missing screws have really annoyed me. I bought the because we had a theft in the driveway so it’s predominantly for security and now anyone can simply click the device off the bracket and walk away. Now to try to get replacements. uhg

Why didn’t I buy it sooner? I love this ring doorbell! It gives me a piece of mind, especially since I order online a lot! Motion detection is perfect! It gives me loud notifications whenever someone walks by or when I’ve the package. I like that this is also a doorbell! They have several settings to match your needs. I tend to have it on high sensitivity. It goes for months before you have to charge it, especially since it’s working 24/7! Definitely worth the investment. Not to mention, the color is perfect! I love it. This ring doorbell is very easy to install. The instruction was clear and easy to follow.

I LOVE this ring door bell!! The video quality is great. I purchased a no drill doorbell mount so it was super easy to install. It performs great and holds a charge for days! You can change the motion sensor settings and get rid of all your unwanted notifications and it extends the battery life as well. It saves all your recordings and great to make sure no one is getting in your vehicle at night and great way to step up your personal home security! You can even talk through the doorbell and listen live if someone is standing at your door. Great for pesky door to door salesmen or annoying people you just don’t want to talk to. Wish I would have purchased one sooner!

    Great doorbell
Got this during the Black Friday sales and couldn’t be happier. Good features for the money.Used a 6mm masonry drill bit to mount to hard brick. Also used homebridge with the ring plugin installed on a computer that’s always on anyways to enable the use of it with Apple HomeKit integration. Good for my portable devices while Alexa speaker/screens are in every room anyway.Time for some security cameras next I think.
