RICH IN RESIN – Fatwood is made from some of the most resin rich pine trees in the world. This resin is what allows fatwood to burn so incredibly well! When burning, fatwood produces a black smoke, but do not be alarmed as the burning resin makes the smoke black
ECO FRIENDLY & ALL NATURAL – All Billy Buckskin Co. fatwood is eco-friendly. Made from dead tree stumps in the jungles of Mexico, fatwood is 100% natural and is not altered by any manmade chemicals!
HOW TO USE – Simply place 2-3 sticks of fatwood in the center of your kindling, light one of the sticks and watch the fire start right before your eyes! Sometimes you will need to hold a match on one spot of fatwood for a couple of seconds to get the resin to flow and then light. Each piece is different so some may take longer than others.
BURNS EVEN WHEN WET – Because of the incredibly high resin content in fatwood, it can burn even when it is wet! This is perfect for use in any conditions. It works just as well starting a campfire surrounded by snow or starting a BBQ in the heat of summer
40 POUND BOX – When you purchase this product, you will receive a 40 lb box of fatwood. When lighting a fire, you only require 2-3 sticks at a time. Each stick is roughly 8 inches long and 0.3 – 1.25 inches thick

I’m a bit of a firebug. I like to put a lot of this in my fires to start them. but you don’t need to. The 10lb box lasted us through a couple dozen fires, and would have definitely lasted longer if I didn’t use so much to start my fires. Good for indoor or outdoor use. Their price has gone way up since I started buying this product – I used to buy 25lbs at a time. But, to be fair, the price it went up to is still a decent price for the quality fire starting kindling you get.I’ll still be buying it to light any fire – at home, camping, the back yard, the neighbor’s she… I mean, the cookout with the neighbors… (kidding! My neighbors have never invited me to a cookout).Kidding aside – if you’re looking for a bunch of easily ignitable kindling, this is it.

They seemed a bit pricey and the 6″ logs were too long for my small tablet top fire-pit. The bottom line is they did the job but I made the wrong choice in terms of price and size. They would have been better if had a larger firepit or was out camping. If you need a good fire starter with a pleasant aroma, this will good.

I typically use four or five of these sticks to light fires in our Tiki brand smokeless firepit. Three will work OK, but more sticks equals faster start, and because we live in Southwest Florida it’s only cool enough to have evening fires for a few months out of the year so one box of sticks will easily last us two seasons. The sticks ignite easily with a match or lighter, but I typically use a butane torch. Yes, they do generate a good bit of dark smoke with a pungent, though not disagreeable, aroma for a few minutes, but it soon dissipates, and the fire quickly transfers to the split logs. Our Billy Buckskin sticks have been left outdoors, in their original cardboard box, on our patio under an awning, but even with our steam room-like humidity down here they do not seem to absorb moisture, perhaps due to the high rosin content.Although they are one of the more expensive products of their type, they have proven to be quite reliable and I will purchase these again when the time comes, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Works great to get a fire going and you dont need to use paper, which is great for an indoor fireplace or stove.

These go up in a blaze! No way they are 100% natural though, produce black smoke with chemical smell.Works great for fire starting.

Fatwood is almost like magic for starting a wood fire — just one (or two?) does the job

I use these to light my charcoal. It only needs one but 2 are best for a really windy day! They burn away completely so no muss, no fuss!
